thanks mom! stem cell event

This is the third Annual “Thanks Mom” stem cell awareness campaign (see this link for info about the first Thanks Mom campaign) which would occur each spring around Mother’s Day to remind people to register with OneMatch. Since mothers have given us life, we also should give a life saving chance to others in need through stem cell donation. Give hope to someone in need. What better way to say "thanks Mom" for the gift of life than by sharing that gift with someone else, someone’s child? That's the idea behind the "Thanks Mom" Stem Cell Awareness Campaign.

There are many good reasons for having a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of registering on the OneMatch stem cell registry (formerly known as the Unrelated Bone Marrow Registry) through Canadian Blood Services (CBS):

• Vancouver Lower Mainland’s multiracial population, which includes a higher percentage of biracial people and visible minorities

• Vancouver Lower Mainland’s young population – the ideal stem cell donor is under 30 years old but up to 50 years old is acceptable
