why register?

Why the need to register with OneMatch?

We need to increase the number of potential stem cell donors. If you’re not on it, someone out there who may be the ONEMATCH that they need to live may not have a second chance at life. Like winning the lottery, you have to participate in order to have a chance to win (i.e. be a match)!

Currently, the OneMatch registry in Canada is 85% Caucasian registrants; non-Caucasians (especially visible minorities) are underrepresented and hence the chances of a successful match are much lower for them.

However the general population of the Lower Mainland is much different!

Currently, the average of Canadian OneMatch registrants is 46 years old! We need more younger registrants.
